Lovely little village where we ended up doing not very much for a couple days while we wait for our blackwater rafting trip.

A lovely national park where we enjoy the lush woods, streams and waterfalls.

The south island ferry stop. We stay here for 1 night before having a Malborough sounds cruise and then heading back to the north island.
Motueka

Jan 27, 2025 - Jan 29, 2025
A very nice seaside town where we freedom camp by the beach. It was ridiculously windy in the evening!
Reefton

Jan 26, 2025 - Jan 27, 2025
Probably our laziest day yet! After a 3 and a half hour drive in broken rain we arrived in the quaint town of Reefton. The heavens open and we don't do much except a short stroll in to town for coffee, followed by a few drinks at the campsite and finishing up with a pizza in a small restaurant close by.
Franz Josef

Jan 25, 2025 - Jan 26, 2025
A very wet day! A 2 hour drive to a 3 hour walk! The walk was meant to lead us to see the glacier, however the cloud and mist didn't allow it. That being said, a little later we did manage to see it from our campsite 😅. We finish the day with a classic dinner. Cheesy, bacony, sweet and spicy ramen. A classic at home with NZ twists!
Haast

Jan 24, 2025 - Jan 25, 2025
A stunning drive through Haast Pass, multiple waterfall stops and one incredibly steep lookout trek. We tried to stay at our initial choice of campsite for the night, but decided we didn't want to be fed on by the sandflies! We moved on to another site a further 45 minutes on.
Queenstown

Jan 21, 2025 - Jan 24, 2025
We set up in and around Queenstown for a few days in order to do a few excursions in the area. From relaxing by lakes, to riding horses, to very much getting back to chasing those waterfalls!
Lake Tekapo

Jan 20, 2025 - Jan 21, 2025
An early morning drive to Lake Tekapo led us to parking up by the lake for a grueling 3 hours hike up Mount John. Was it worth it? Depends who you ask 😅. Once back to Morrison we checked in to the campsite before heading to lake for a nice cooling dip. Evening arrived and we started cooking, but half way through what happened? We run out of gas! Luckily the campsite had a kitchen so we could finish cooking our curry. After a beautiful, but long day we took in the sky awash with stars before heading to bed. This morning leaving for Cromwel we spent an hour paddleboarding on the lake and had one last dip.
Christchurch

Jan 18, 2025 - Jan 20, 2025
A relatively short stopover at Christchurch where we spent the night. In the morning we went for a coffee and had a pastry for breakfast on New Regent Street before restocking Morrison for our next rural escapades. At lunch we drove an hour all for a much anticipated pie, where we were not let down. Finishing the day we met up with a friend of George's, from his viking game, for a few beers. A mobile game sparking beers and pie recommendations half a world away. We then spent the night at a campsite half way towards Lake Tekapo.
Kaikoura

Jan 17, 2025 - Jan 18, 2025
After a long ferry we start our south island adventure in the beautiful costal town of Kaikoura. We do all of our campsite necessities and sleep early to make the most of the morning. We begin our first full day in the south with a 3 hour round walk to a seal colony followed by a whale watching expedition.
Wellington

Jan 16, 2025 - Jan 17, 2025
Quite a short stay in our first stop at Wellington. We check out Hannahs laneway and found it a little disappointing due to all the hype we saw. We drive to the top of mount victoria and finally find a quiet place to park up for dinner.
Makuri

Jan 15, 2025 - Jan 16, 2025
We stop in Makuri as a halfway point between Napier and Wellington. This is real freedom camping. No-one else around for miles.

We stayed overnight in Napier, went for a quick 2 hour trek to the top of a mountain and had to fix a chip in Morrison's windshield
Taupo

Jan 13, 2025 - Jan 14, 2025
We stayed on the coast of Taupo lake, the largest lake in Oceania. It is tidal due to its shape. The evening on our arrival we saw a stunning sunset. On the day of our departure we visited hukka falls and then went back to Taupo lake for a quick dip before saying goodbye 👋
